About New Spectrum

New Spectrum is an Irish born, Berlin based producer. With many years in music production and a childhood filled with influences from house acts (Modjo, Thomas Bangalter) to big beat producers (The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers) and to old school Hip hop (A Tribe Called Quest, Run DMC). It was quite a musically varied upbringing. Eventually this led onto a short stint in music college, where he learned through music history classes, the deep history and development of music from the 50’s onwards. He discovered things like how Kraftwerk developed from an experimental rock genre called krautrock into early electro and how this would influence many artists and go on to make early hip hop and so on. Uncovering all of these melting pots, he eventually started to build his music collection, with everything from @thomasbagnalter Roulé to Yazoo’s Upstairs at Erics and pretty much every production from “The Neptunes”. Which he says are “hands down one of the best producers over the last two decades”. Currently very inspired by late 90's and new contemporary rnb from the likes of Brent Faiyaz ,“New Spectrum” is an alias dedicated to blurring the lines between these broad influences and genres. His releases have brought in a number of plays on BBC's Radio 1 and support from a wide range of renowned producers and djs, such as Fatboy Slim, Groove Armada, Busy P, Solomun, Gerd Janson, Perel and DJ Seinfeld.
