Sydney Blu has built one of the most respected careers in electronic music. With beginnings in Toronto’s legendary venues like The Guvernment and Footwork, she has gone on to release music on labels including Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep in Sound, HE.SHE.THEY, Desert Hearts, Drumcode, and Deadmau5’s Mau5trap. Her breakout hit “Give It Up For Me” made history as the first track by a solo female producer to reach the Top 10 on Beatport’s Overall Chart, later spending over three months at #1. In 2024, the track’s techno remix returned to #1, reaffirming her lasting influence on underground dance music. Over the course of her career, Sydney has headlined clubs and festivals around the world including Ultra Music Festival, The BPM Festival, Burning Man, Space Ibiza, Space Miami, Stereo Montreal, Sisyphos Berlin, Avalon Hollywood, CODA Toronto, and many more. In 2011 she performed at Toronto’s Rogers Centre for Deadmau5’s Meowingtons Hax Tour in front of 35,000 fans, the largest solo headlining dance event in Canadian history at the time. More recently, her Change the Beat showcases have expanded across North America, culminating in a new partnership with Universal Music at Amsterdam Dance Event. Alongside her global touring and production success, Sydney continues to lead through her nonprofit Change the Beat, an initiative empowering women and underrepresented voices in electronic music through remix contests, workshops, and mentorship programs. She also successfully spearheaded the creation of the JUNO Award category for Underground Dance Single of the Year, cementing her legacy as both an artist and industry changemaker. A relentless force in the scene, Sydney Blu remains at the forefront of house and techno, pushing the culture forward with every release, performance, and project she touches.
