Berlin based DJ and producer Jacob Dilssner aka Wankelmut ranks among the most popular and renowned representatives of electronic music “made in Germany”. Born and raised in East Germany, the 35-year-old made his breakthrough in 2012, when his remix for Asaf Avidans “One Day / Reckoning Song” soared to #1 in eight European countries, resulting in over three million records sold to date as well as a multitude of Gold and Platinum Awards. During 2012 he developed a close relationship with the esteemed Berlin label Get Physical Music, with whom Wankelmut started his own Mix-Compilation-Series „Wankelmoods” in fall of 2012, which have reached the third volume. His single “My Head Is A Jungle”, featuring Australian singer Emma Louise, made it to the Top 20 across Europe, peaking at #5 in the UK charts with Mark Kinchens (MK) remix in summer 2014. At the same time, Wankelmut started doing remixes and refined tracks by artists such as Dennis Lloyd, Gossip, Lenny Kravitz, Hozier, K.Flay or Flight Facilities. His artistic achievements are topped off by hundreds of DJ bookings per year, allowing him to present his take on electronic music based on House and Techno at clubs and festivals all over the world. During the last five years Wankelmut has collaborated with various vocalists like Björn Dixgard (singer of Mando Diao), Charlotte OC or MATTN and subsequently scored 2.6 Mio monthly listeners on Spotify to date. After his Summer festival season 2019 Wankelmut returned to his studio in Berlin to work on new music. In early 2020 his own imprint label WKLMT was launched with releases like the club smasher “Ayahuasca” and „Roll It“, which got lots of credible positive feedback. The last two years were filled with great productions and collaborations on labels like Universal / Virgin, Spinnin’ Records, Spinnin’ Deep, Toolroom, Defected, Perfect Havoc, Adue Music and LoudKult/Universal, never losing sight of his roots in club music. 2022 was kicked off by “Cross My Mind” a collaboration between NOON and Marie Bothmer on Kontor Records, followed by “Green Light”, another release on “Perfect Havoc”. In March he returned with a club music release on Mother Recordings, made a return to Spinnin’ Records in April and released a new single on his own label WKLMT in June. His brand new release “You and I” was released in July 2022 on Crash Your Sound. Wankelmuts widespread talent in writing and production even found a home within the synch/movie sector, where the produced the song “Outweigh Your Love” for the film “The Magic Flute” – truly showing his versatility . Right now one of Berlins most exciting DJs is about to pop out of the studio again with exciting News and many songs and collaborations in the pocket. Backed up by a new Management (PhilippWillmsManagement), international Booking Agency (Radius Agency) and Booking Partner for GSA (Book Kings) WANKELMUTs future is definitely something to be excited about.
