Compost Records is an independent label from Munich, founded in 1993 by DJ, journalist and club promoter Michael Reinboth out of his Friday night Into Somethin'. Its first release, A Forest Mighty Black, landed in early 1994, and the Future Sounds Of Jazz and Glücklich compilation series went on to help define future jazz. Over three decades and more than 800 catalogue releases the label has moved through downbeat, broken beat, Latin house, neo disco and deep house, with records by Rainer Trüby, Beanfield, Fauna Flash, Christian Prommer, Marbert Rocel and Web Web, and early outings for Solomun and Âme. Its family of imprints includes Compost Black Label, Drumpoet Community, rumpelmusig, Beat Art Department and Elaste Records.
