As a child, Sammy Goossens aka Sierra Sam was always asking Santa for 7-inch records to play on his little red plastic player (the same as you can find at the Flea Markets around Berlin) so when he was 12 he got his first Yamaha CS01 synthesizer for Christmas and started to make noises. That's where it all began. After playing bass, electronic drums and even some keyboards in local bands, Sammy discovered he could make music on his own with a sampler and computer.Then the techno years came: he and his friends had access to a studio and started experimenting every night, leading to the first self-produced vinyl as 6th Sense Approach in 1995. Lots of releases followed, appearing on labels like Reload, Rotation, Tresor, Pure Plastic, Access 58, R&S, Muller, Teknotika and Trapez Ltd. During those years, Sierra Sam started playing live gigs and started promoting parties. For one of those parties he brought Suburban Knight to Belgium. A strong brotherhood started between the two, and Sammy helped the Detroit legend to set up a live act and toured with him. When Peacefrog offered James an album deal, he invited Sammy to co-produce it with him. A few more records as Suburban Knight came from the Belgian studio. In 2004, Sammy started a new job in a distribution company and had the idea to start his own new label. When he met Marcus Vector, the two started Toys For Boys Records, followed soon by a sub label, Nomor. The labels got recognized and played by most of the electronic dance scene and three years later, Jay Haze offered a job as label manager for Tuning Spork and Contexterrior in Berlin. This relocation pushed Sammy to produce even more music, resulting in more records for Einmaleins, Tuning Spork, Contexterrior and his own Toys For Boys, either solo or with Marcus Vector (sometimes as "DIY") or Bloody Mary. He also established regular appearances at the Tresor club. He just finished producing Bloody Mary's debut album for Contexterrior.
