About Afterus
On the surface Afterus is a New York metal band that harnesses elements of folk, symphony, goth, death, doom, and experimental to incite the realization of unity through apocalyptic loss and devastation. At its core the band is Inspired by the theory that all human civilization will eventually fall because of its absence of compassion, and its inability to coexist within itself and within its environment, invoking thematic elements from paganism, witchcraft, the occult, gothic and romantic poetry, literary criticism, fantasy, and dystopian and post-apocalyptic literature. The music begs us to ask what will happen after what we know as our world eventually ends, when nature inevitably reclaims all that was created and destroyed by us, when all that is left of humanity are those who survive, the stories they tell and the music they create... what will truly be left of us after us?
