Bas Mooy (1976) has been a driving force in the international techno scene for over twenty five years. Hailing from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, he has carved out a distinct niche with his dark, powerful, and uncompromising sound. As a DJ, producer, and label owner, Mooy continues to shape the future of techno with a fierce dedication to quality and innovation. For nearly two decades, Bas Mooy was part of the Rotterdam underground collective ‘Strictly Techno’, responsible for over a hundred events since the late ’90s in legendary venues such as Waterfront, Nighttown and Perron. In 2003 Mooy co-founded Audio Assault Records with Radial, a label that quickly carved out its place within the harder spectrum of techno. With its uncompromising sound and stripped-back, industrial aesthetic, it became a defining platform for a new wave of raw techno artists in the early 2000’s. After more than a decade of running Audio Assault, Mooy launched Mord Records in 2013. The label rapidly established itself as a key outlet for contemporary techno, balancing established names with emerging talent from across the globe. With its stark, distinctive identity and consistently forward-driven output, Mord has cemented its position at the forefront of the underground. Since the launch of Mord Records, the label has hosted showcases worldwide at renowned venues such as Berghain (Berlin), Basement (New York), Fold (London), Perron (Rotterdam) and Tresor (Berlin). Mooy’s productions have found a home on some of the genre’s most respected labels, including Mote-Evolver, CLR, 47, Perc Trax, Planet Rhythm, as well as his own imprints Mord and Audio Assault. As a performer, Bas Mooy is known for his intense, high-energy DJ sets that span the spectrum of dark, hypnotic, and driving techno. He has performed at some of the world’s most renowned clubs and festivals. Whether in the studio, behind the decks, or curating his label’s next release, Bas Mooy continues to push the sound forward while staying true to its underground roots. With Mord Records turning 13 in 2026, Bas shows no sign of slowing down.
