Staying ahead of the rest with their own brand of neck- snapping beats, Ulterior Motive bring out the dark funk flavours of underground drum & bass at it’s finest. Their rise may have been rapid with releases on Metalheadz, Subtitles and Critical over the past few years but it’s a firm commitment to quality over quantity that continues to set them apart. Live and at full speed, their sound has stirred subs worldwide and DJ sets have taken the duo everywhere from Amsterdam to Australia. Fusing a characteristic mix of high-definition basslines and precision breaks, recent releases include remixes for Future Cut and Natalie Duncan plus the cross-collaborative “Versus” EP. Ulterior Motive are busy for the rest of 2013 writing their debut album for Metalheadz with appearances set for festivals across Europe this Summer.Since stepping up in 2010 with a series of essential releases on Subtitles, Ulterior Motive haven’t stopped honing their sound and are constantly driven to develop new skills in the studio. Few details are known about their production techniques although the results speak for themselves, with best-selling singles on Beatport for Subtitles and Commercial Suicide in 2012. Whatever the secrets of their sound may be, it’s clear they’re still pushing forward and the best is yet to come from this exciting partnership.
