For more than two decades, Fernando Lagreca has quietly carved out a distinct space within Europe’s electronic underground. Born in Uruguay and based in Barcelona since the early 2000s, his work revolves around a simple but increasingly rare premise in contemporary club culture: machines first, computers later. Lagreca’s live sets are built entirely around hardware—drum machines, sequencers and analog instruments arranged into a fluid performance system where improvisation plays as much of a role as composition. The result sits somewhere between hypnotic techno functionality and the exploratory spirit of live electronic experimentation. In the studio, that same ethos has produced a steady stream of EPs and albums over the years, occasionally surfacing on Beatport charts, including a #1 Raw / Hypnotic Techno entry with Kosmonaut. But chart placements only tell part of the story. Much of Lagreca’s reputation has been built in clubs and festivals, where his machine-driven performances translate studio ideas into evolving, tactile dancefloor narratives. That approach has taken him across venues such as Ritter Butzke, Birgit & Bier and Tanzhaus West, as well as international events including Sónar and Amsterdam Dance Event. His appearances on the Berlin streaming platform HÖR have also introduced the format to a wider online audience. Outside the booth, Lagreca moves across several layers of the electronic music ecosystem. Through Miracle MGMT and his imprint Beautiful Accident, he works on the management and development side of the industry while continuing to teach music production and music business. It’s a multifaceted career, but the core remains unchanged: a long-standing commitment to hardware-driven electronic music and the physical language of machines on a dancefloor.
