Biography
As one of the UK’s most respected Drum and Bass artists, Sam Oliver, also known as Friske, is well known for his dark, jungle heavy sound, deadly selection and flawless mixing skills. His first official release was in 2005 in the form of “Troublesome,” a fiercely energetic track with a dark and foreboding atmosphere. Signed by Renegade Hardware, this signalled the start of his production journey. Mixing the bboyism and hip hop influences he grew up with in to the frenetic, break driven jungle style he would eventually become known for, he quickly developed his own unique sound. Since then, the quality of his output has remained consistent as he continues to create music he believes in, rather than following mainstream trends. His fastidious approach to production means he now has a formidable back catalogue of uncompromising, underground drum and bass. Releasing music on labels including DSC14, Architecture, Warm Communications, Renegade Hardware and of course, Metalheadz, Friske has already proved his ability to create the kind of music that lasts for generations.
