Phil Kieran is a Belfast-born artist respected as a true selector’s DJ, with nearly three decades immersed in the underground. His productions — spanning driving techno, shadowy electro and psychedelic-tinged club tracks — have landed on Skint, Soma, Novamute and Cocoon, before the launch of his own imprint, Phil Kieran Recordings (PKR). Phil Kieran has collaborated with Green Velvet, Douglas J. McCarthy (Nitzer Ebb), Speedy J and The Bush Tetras, while his remix catalogue includes Depeche Mode, DJ Hell, Inner City, Agoria, UNKLE, David Holmes and Andrew Weatherall. A new collaboration with Roman Flügel is set for 2026. Under his Le Carousel alias, he explores a more melodic and widescreen sound. The project returns in March 2026 with The Humans Will Destroy Us — a rhythm-driven, synth-rich record that straddles the dancefloor and the cosmos. It is accompanied by remixes from Curses and Hardway Bros aka Sean Johnston (ALFOS). As a DJ, Phil's own club night Leatherette is known for long-form sets that favour tension and groove, that move through slow-burning, bass-led rhythms, motorik pulses and cosmic textures, connecting to contemporary techno music with deeper cuts, archival digs and unexpected classics. He guests at institutions including Berghain, Tresor and Fabric and tours parties worldwide. He often locks himself in a dark room where he composes music for film.
