What Deep Techno Labels Look For
Deep techno A&Rs are listening to your reverb and your low end, because that is where the whole genre lives. Space has to be designed, not applied: a wet-sounding record where every element shares one reverb reads as unfinished, while a great one has depth in layers. The kick sits softer and further back than in club techno, which means the sub carries the weight and any conflict between the two is immediately audible. Above that, chords and pads should be felt more than heard. Records run long (7 to 10 minutes) and evolve through filtering and texture rather than through arrangement events.

What is the difference between deep techno and hypnotic techno?
They are neighbours and many labels release both. Deep techno is defined by space and dub processing: a soft kick, long reverb tails, submerged chords, a mix with real front-to-back depth. Hypnotic techno is defined by repetition and slow evolution: one rolling groove that changes constantly without ever announcing it. A deep techno record can be sparse and still; a hypnotic one is always moving forward. Both run 7–10 minutes and both are written for the middle of a set rather than the peak.
What BPM and length suit a deep techno demo?
Most deep techno sits at 125–135 BPM, slower and softer-hitting than peak-time techno, with the dub-leaning end running lower still.
